This summer, we stayed in Denmark. No Balkans, no Italy, no Spain, just good ol’ Denmark. While our eldest daughter is off traveling all over, my wife, our younger daughter, and I are exploring our own country. We spent some time in Kolding. In Haderslev, we strolled through the town center and took a boat trip on Haderslev Lake. We also visited Sophie's Spring. That same day, we decided to revisit Christiansfeld. All we really wanted was to try the famous honey cake. Oh my God, it was delicious, especially with the peach marmalade inside.
The girls and I drove to Thy, a region in the northwestern part of Jutland, and we spent several days in Hanstholm and the surrounding area. It's such a beautiful place and absolutely worth the drive. The beach by Bulbjerg Knude is just amazing.
On the way home, we stopped by Holstebro, the town in western Jutland where I used to live with my parents and brother more than twenty years ago.
One day, Amra and I met up with a friend in Resenbro, near Silkeborg. The plan was to hike along the Gudenå River, but because the paths were flooded, we only managed to walk about 6–7 km instead of the planned 14–15 km. Still, it was a great day. We had lunch at Svostrup Kro, and later we enjoyed cake and coffee at Café Greenhouse in Resenbro.
All in all, it was nice staying home, and just relaxing. I think, we all needed that.
