Pantera in Concert

I don't often go to concerts anymore, but when a colleague asked me to go to a Pantera concert, I couldn't refuse. Pantera has been one of my favorite bands since my early youth in the 1990s, so of course, I seized the chance. A special thanks go to him.

Yesterday, I drove to Copenhagen and parked near the Royal Arena. From there, we walked to Field's mall to grab some food. We decided on pizza before heading back to the arena, ready for an evening of music. The opening act was Child Bite, an American punk/metal band, followed by thrash metal group Power Trip as special guests.

A simple, yet effective sign.

The sheer size of the Royal Arena was impressive; with a capacity of 17,000 guests, it’s an ideal venue for such an event. When Pantera opened their set with "A New Level," a track from their legendary 1992 album Vulgar Display of Power, the energy in the arena erupted. The crowd surged together, standing tightly packed, fully immersed in the music.

Pantera’s decision to play just thirteen songs showcased their signature "no bullshit" attitude. This straightforward approach has always been a hallmark of the band, and they stayed true to it. Their tribute to Vinnie and Dimebag was heartfelt, as expected, and a touching moment of the night. I was thrilled they included "Floods" in the setlist, one of my all-time favorite songs, complete with a mesmerizing guitar solo. Luckily, I managed to capture it on video.

The band’s performance was impeccable throughout. Every song was delivered with precision, and the overall sound quality in the arena was fantastic. Pantera maintained an incredibly high standard from start to finish. It was an outstanding concert from one of my favorite bands, and driving 250 kilometers to Copenhagen on a Sunday afternoon was absolutely worth it. To me, Pantera was never an intentional cerebral experience, but a massive display of power and energy, seasoned with some monumental riffs and melodies.

Who knows, maybe I'll get another chance to experience them live again someday.

Several songs from the concert I mixed together into one 'medley'.

A New Level
Mouth for War
Strength Beyond Strength

I'm Broken
