It's amazing to see how the AI technology is getting better almost every day.
Last year, I wrote an article on Artificial Intelligence and Plato's cardinal virtues—though I originally wrote it in Bosnian. Recently, I came across an intriguing claim online that Google's NotebookLM can generate podcasts featuring virtual hosts who discuss a topic based on an article or video. Naturally, I was curious, so I uploaded my article on the cardinal virtues and Plato's ethics, and asked NotebookLM to create a podcast episode about it.
This is how it looks in NotebookLM before it creates a podcast episode about my article about AI and Plato's cardinal virtues.
In about ten minutes, NotebookLM produced a 15-minute podcast episode, where two virtual hosts discussed my article—again, written in Bosnian—and how I addressed Plato’s four cardinal virtues. The outcome was nothing short of remarkable. The voices sounded so natural, you couldn’t tell they were AI-generated, and they stayed on-topic the entire time. They even mentioned images I used in the article, and how it was difficult to see which one was real and which one was created artificially. I used the mentioned images from the article as the thumbnail for the video itself. There's nothing else, as I hope you will focus on what you hear and not what you see.
A podcast run by two virtual hosts talking about my article about the AI and its connection to Plato's cardinal virtues.
I don't know about others, but I can't hear the difference between a normal conversation between human hosts and this recording. I even like how the hosts pronounced Bosnian terms I used to describe the four cardinal virtues—prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance. At this rate, it won’t be long before AI is capable of creating full-fledged videos or TV shows with virtual hosts and actors. What an incredible time to be alive!
