The nightmare in Pakistan continues. According to The United Nations, the earthquake in Pakistan was a worse disaster than last year’s tsunami, as the secretary general, Kofi Annan, warned of a second “massive wave of deaths” if we don’t increase international aid dramatically.
The latest death toll stands at 42,000 with at least 67,000 injured. I’m afraid the number will get higher because there are hundreds of thousands of people in remote areas that haven’t seen any sign of help. As Mr. Annan said, “an estimated three million men, women and children are homeless. Many of them have no blankets or tents to protect them against the merciless Himalayan winter”.
What makes me angry is the fact that when the tsunami struck, in the aftermath of the tsunami, there were about 1,000 helicopters which were commissioned. In Pakistan at this point there are only 80 helicopters.
I will do my duty and donate some money as soon as now.
P.S.
This is my 100th post on Unjournaled and it is said that the topic is of a tragic character as this one, but I just had to comment on this subject.
